Cloud translation meant both a bill and a privacy cost: your pages went to a server, and a meter ticked for every chapter. Yet most people already have capable hardware sitting on their desk. The goal was to bring translation onto your own machine and end your chapters’ dependence on the internet.

The app does two jobs on your own computer. First, a library: your chapters live permanently on your disk, with a built-in reader for manga and long-strip webtoons; you can add images from disk, create series, rename and reorder chapters. Second, a bridge: if a local AI model server is running on your machine, the app detects it and links it to your account over a secure outbound connection — no ports to open.

Translation now runs on your hardware instead of a cloud model. The moment a local server like Ollama or LM Studio comes up, the Connection screen advances by itself; output quality is set by the size of the model you pick — bigger models render idioms, context and character voice more faithfully. You translate a chapter in your account at spandtranslate.com, then export the finished chapter to the app in one click and keep it offline.
